I first became interested in photography years ago as child when my father did black and white photography. We had a dark room in the basement. I spent many hours in the dark developing and printing. My first camera was an Argus. It used 620 roll film (remember that?). Working with medium format negatives was easy and fun. Then came my first SLR that I thought was better than sliced bread. Then came life, career and family and photography had to take a back seat.
Now that I am retired and have more time and with the advent of digital photography, I decided it was time to do something for myself that hopefully will be around long after I'm gone. Photography to me is capturing a moment in time that can never be repeated. That is why I prefer people photography and particularly faces and attempting to capture the emotion of the moment. Taking a picture is one thing, but creating an image is demanding, its having an awareness of composition, light, shadow, and the imagination to "see" the final image. But, you know, sometimes I just like taking pictures like I did when I was a kid.
Many of the images in the galleries are simply snap shots taken over the years, while others are more artistic. Whatever they are, I hope you enjoy.
